Tunisia has no shortage of assets on the international MICE* market, starting with its proximity to Europe, the world’s largest market. Even if the destination lacks major Convention Centers, the fact remains that it has nearly 80 large-capacity rooms in hotels (for over 400 participants, see the table of rooms in our article “MICE: better knowledge for better development”), and that it offers historic and natural sites where major events are already being organized.

But the destination’s greatest asset is the know-how of its professionals (DMCs and hoteliers), their creativity and the technological level they have reached. Qualities that they exercise not only in Tunisia, but also in other destinations in North Africa and the Middle East.

Ultimately, the main obstacle to the development of the sector is its promotion.

By Lotfi Mansour, tourism consultant (former director of specialized magazines; initiator and Honorary President of the Tunisia Convention Bureau).
