Neither a business hotel, nor a leisure hotel, but both at the same time: such is the new establishment opening in La Marsa, north of Tunis. It’s a place of work that multiplies design atmospheres and nods to Tunisian urban culture and its icons. With The Nine, the Seabel Group reinvents the city hotel.

It’s generally accepted that you choose your hotel in the city to get a good night’s sleep or to get together. The Nine adds a few more reasons to make it a place apart. Housed in vast buildings on the edge of an industrial zone at the entrance to La Marsa, it welcomes guests in a large, uninterrupted space: from the lobby to the large tables of the urban bistro (“Le 9 Bis”), via a patio onto which the upstairs rooms overlook.

The Nine takes the concept of lifestyle experience a step further: iconic objects from pre-2000 Tunisia, period photos and portraits of past glories. A playful tribute to those pioneering years of modernity.

In this enclosed space, the design and decorations blur the boundaries between inside and outside: opposite the entrance even sits a genuine “BiBi cab”, a survivor from the 60s, next to a reproduction of a local grocer’s display…

For The Nine takes the concept of lifestyle experience a step further. It’s dotted with iconic objects from pre-2000 Tunisia, period photos and portraits of past glories. A playful tribute to those pioneering years of modernity.

The convention center and “la Pla7”

In the foreground, another building houses a spa and a superb convention center (the “Meet’in Center”); a much-needed offering for the capital region, always in short supply of small and medium-sized meeting rooms. It includes a 235 m2 modular meeting room, 4 committee rooms for up to 16 people and a private lounge “for exclusive meetings” for up to 8 people. There are also coworking spaces for professionals.

Between these two sections, “la Pla7” (the square), a café-style terrace, forms the link with the outside world. It promises to become a trendy meeting place in the northern suburbs of Tunis.
